WHAT WE PROVIDE
Up to $3,000 ($6,000 per year) per semester fills crucial gaps not addressed by federal funding and helps ensure scholars are able to meet basic living expenses while in school.
Individualized Mentoring Sessions
Weekly meetings with Forward Steps’ Student Development Manager, a Masters-level professional, that are guided by the students’ needs. Topics covered ranged from academic challenges, housing issues, financial aid complications and emotional distress.
Monthly Professional & Personal Development Workshops
Monthly group meetings that provide essential life-skills training and broadening scholars’ understanding of certain topics including:
- Finances & Budgeting
- Time Management
- Health & Nutrition
- Coping in New Environments
A pre-college program that prepares students for their first semester of college. Students are given information about accessing on-campus resources, receive assistance with organizing their schedules and are given career assessments to identify previously unrealized interests and strengths.
