Our annual dinner last week at the University of Colorado’s Touchdown Club was a resounding success. It was truly inspiring to see our community come together and hear directly from our Executive Director Jennifer Falkoski and her epic journey to the summit of Kilimanjaro to raise funds for scholars. We also heard from Guardian Scholar Matthew Lynd and his graduate school educational experience. We celebrated all of our students’ accomplishments and the impact of Forward Steps, made possible through the generosity and commitment of our community.
Thanks to your generosity, we have successfully raised $71,550 for our Climb Kilimanjaro campaign!

At the Gala, we had the privilege of hearing firsthand about the inspiring achievements of our scholars and students over the past year. It was a heartfelt celebration of their resilience and growth. We’re excited to see all they will accomplish in the future, knowing that each milestone reflects the supportive community of Forward Steps and the unwavering determination of those we serve.
Guardian Scholar graduate Kendra Schmetterlin-Lund says:
“Forward Steps Guardian Scholars Program helped me in many ways in the process of getting my college degree. I was a part of the Forward Steps program starting my freshman year of college and remained in the program until I graduated and received my degree. I received not only financial support, but I also received mentorship and had someone there to help me navigate through some of the harder parts of college. Having someone that I could ask questions and go to for help was extremely important and made my college experience a lot better. “
With your help we unlocked the $15k match!
Thanks to your swift and generous responses in the final days of our campaign, we doubled the impact of your gifts, raising a total of $30,000 towards our campaign goal. This critical support ensures we can continue providing consistent resources to our Guardian Scholars.
